I am a counsellor in private practice. I am the data controller for any personal information you share with me.

  • An address and emergency contact number in case I need to ask for a welfare check

  • Information you provide when you get in touch or attend sessions

  • Brief notes relating to our work together

 

How I Use Your Information:


I use your information to:

  • Respond to enquiries

  • Arrange and provide counselling sessions

  • Maintain brief records of our work

  • Meet professional and legal responsibilities, such as attending supervision.

Confidentiality:


Everything you share in counselling is treated as confidential. The main exception is if there is a risk of serious harm to yourself or others, or where required by law.

I also discuss my work in regular supervision. This is done in a way that protects your identity.

 

How Your Information Is Stored:


Your information is stored securely and kept only for as long as necessary in line with professional guidelines.

This may include:

  • Secure digital storage (password-protected)

  • Locked physical storage (if applicable)

 

How Long I Keep Your Information:


I typically retain records for 5–7 years after our work ends, in line with professional recommendations. After this time, records are securely destroyed.

Your Rights:


You have the right to:

  • Access the personal information I hold about you

  • Request correction of inaccurate information

  • Request deletion of your data (where applicable)

  • Withdraw consent where relevant

Please note that there may be limits to these rights in certain circumstances (for example, where I am required to retain records for legal or ethical reasons).
